This really sounds cool.

I plan to participate in this event using Xplane. What is the best method for model matching?

I want to make sure that my Long-EZ is visible as a proper airplane versus a B-52 or something.

Normally, I'm not too concerned with model matching, but in this case it is important.

As you guessed, model matching is going to be critical for this event. Even more specifically, livery matching (since some controllers will be physically looking at your airplane looking for your wing rocks). Because of this, the NOTAM will contain details on approved aircraft that you may fly for the event. Unfortunately, the Long-EZ will not be one of them this year, but rest assured we will have plenty of other piston engine aircraft for you to choose from.

WHAT? No Long EZ's allowed at AirVenture this year? THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I'm calling Jack Pelton right now to file a formal complaint.

Kidding, I'll pick something from your list. Hopefully you got some cool experimentals on there. I ain't flying no C172.

If you’re able to make a quality long EZ CSL for us within a couple of days, we’ll throw it in there!

For both X-Plane and P3D/FSX, right?
