I did my first (of many I am sure) full dress rehearsal for my future I-9 rating. I have to admit, I did rather poorly.
My question is this;
Since I am using the Citation 501, which cannot reach the published restricted speed of 280 KIAS at GRAMM, I told the controller that I was "unable" for the speed restriction at GRAMM. I was told that I should have used a different arrival other than RIIVR2. The controller mentioned the KIMMO2 arrival because that particular arrival had no speed restrictions. He did cancel the speed restriction and let me continue on RIIVR2 in this instance. So...
Would the I-9 still be viable if I did not file BOACH5.HEC.RIIVR2 and filed a different arrival that has no speed restrictions? or When doing the actual I-9, file as in the rating program and say "unable" again and hope for another speed restriction cancellation?

Asked this same question before I did mine: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=2694.
When I actually did my test, I didn't get the "descend via" instruction until I was past GRAMM so it didn't matter anyway. I think the controller was busy or something.
EDIT: Just looked up the KIMMO2. The notes say its only for non-turbojet aircraft (except for the Palmdale transition, landing SMO). 501s and 510s are turbojet aircraft, they're just slow...

I think what the controller was getting at, was that I should have planned my flight better and checked for restrictions. Which in most cases I would have. Being that I was practicing for the I-9, I thought I would just say "unable". Let it be known that I did not state in the remarks section of the flight plan that I was practicing the I-9. So I believe he was giving me the "heads up" for the next time. (If it was not the I-9 rating of course)

Oops! Maybe I should have started my own thread. I wasn't being specific to your situation, but was more interested in general cases. I was kind of piggy-backing my question on your thread. Sorry. I will go ahead and create my own thread with a link back as context. (See my corrected post above.)
