Flights Not Registering: CAT 1 did not register

Hello,

I'm wondering if I am having some issues here. When I connect to the pilot edge network I get the "Connected to Pilot Edge" announcement. I filed my flight plan, flew from KL52 to KL88, waited about 10 min, and never saw my flight reflected. I also haven't been able to hear people on the radios, but I do hear ATIS from Pilot Edge. Can someone please help me figure out what is happening here?

Hi Sophia. I was able to reverse engineer a few things and saw that you did indeed file KL52 to KL88. The correct codes to file for those airports are L52 and L88 respectively (you need to drop the K prefix). You probably picked this up as a result of how they're displayed in the GPS, which is incorrect.

Regarding the ATIS/pilot issue, let's make sure you're actually hearing the PilotEdge ATIS rather than the stock ATIS. If you listen to the ATIS while parked at, say, KSBP, then you disconnect from PilotEdge....are you still hearing the same ATIS?

Regarding not hearing other pilots....if you flew from L52 to L88 and you were on the published CTAF freqs (122.70, 122.80, etc), it may well have been that there were not other pilots on those freqs within range at the time. If you'd like to test your radios, the simplest thing to do would be to park at KSBP and call for a radio check on the ground or tower frequency.

Btw, here's a link to peaware to see recently completed flights between L52 and L88: http://peaware.pilotedge.net/citypair.c ... L52&to=L88

Notice the airport code does not have the Kilo prefix. This is why PEAware isn't able to track your flight. A list of current flights on peaware doesn't show you there, and the home page shows as 'no flight plan filed' because it can't make out what the airports are.

EDIT: I've edited your flight plan for you (while you're in flight) to reflect L52 and L88 without the Kilo prefix. That should put you in good shape for the flight you were doing at the time I wrote this reply.

Sophia,

Since you were flying at the time, I figured I'd join you in the pattern at New Cuyama to deliver the news over the radio. I can't promise we'll always deliver that level of customer support, but the timing worked out as I needed to fire up the sim to test something anyway.

Also, the good news is your radio is working fine!

EDIT: your flight track on peaware starts about half way between L52 and L88. This is because that's about where you were when I edited the flight plan (on the controller side) to reflect the correct airport codes. On your next flight, if you file L88 to KSBP (assuming you are doing the CAT2 next), it should track the whole flight for you.

Keith,

Firstly - how embarrassing that you caught the computer crash landing instead of the proper one earlier! I realized I was lagging pretty bad when I was trying to turn base and final (managed to quite speedily end up beyond the runway!) Secondly, thank you kindly for helping me resolve this issue. I think perhaps I'm just used to filing with the K out of habit with SimBrief, I flew again just to be sure...extra practice never hurts a new pilot (just had my first flight with my CFI last week :) )..and I need all I can get. Thanks for all you do here by the way! I thought I recognized your voice from the Workshops!

Best wishes, and have a nice Wednesday,

Sophia
