A forum user modded the stock C172 in XP11 beta with dual GTN's. If you happen to own at least the 750 it works quite well. These are the gauges from Reality XP (separate purchase)
See here for details:

I also changed some entries in the .ini file to make the 750 act as NAV1/comm1...
[GTN_750_1]
MasterDevice = true
RadiosPair = 1
LinkVor = true
Works pretty good (I'm still having issues with GTN750 guiding NAV1 instrument, but you can view the CDI on the GTN750 for navigation)... perfect for the children of the magenta like me!

Re: Awesome XP11 C172 GTN mod
awesome, I'm currently making the switch from FSX to xPlane where I absolutely can't fly without my GTN 750. Using the default GPS in XP whilst functional is a massive step down. It's good there is a mod to integrate this into the panel but I believe other developers of XP payware aircraft are a bit slow to integrate their aircraft with the GTN750 which is a shame compared to FSX. Normally when I'm looking at an FSX payware aircraft the integrated GTN750 is a huge bonus and is often what convinces me to buy.

Reality XP's GTN-750 is your only recourse AFAIK. It's a 2d overlay, though, it's not part of the 3D panel because it's basically running the Garmin trainer.

Thanks Keith, bit of a shame more XP developers aren't integrating this excellent add on in their panels.

Re: Awesome XP11 C172 GTN mod
My recollection is that there isn't much to do. The plugin is always running in the background, the pilot can enable or disable the units, then position them on screen wherever they want. I'm not sure what a developer can do given that there isn't a mechanism to integrate it directly into the 3d cockpits.
Re: Awesome XP11 C172 GTN mod
This one is actually 3D modeled though. However, because of XP's mouse wheel for cameras you still have to open the GTN pop up to manipulate things. Maybe someone will find a way around that

Re: Awesome XP11 C172 GTN mod
I have the GTN750 fully modelled in the VC in my A2A 182, Comanche and Real Air Turbine Duke.....in FSX. That's what I want in XP, having a pop up window is a bit lame imo. Don't get me wrong its functional but the solution isn't elegant.
Re: Awesome XP11 C172 GTN mod
It's quite new of an addon
It took a long time for devs in FSX to integrate the GTN into their cockpits. RXP GNS in FSX / fs9 started as an addon for 2d panels. It just takes time for these things to catch on. I'm a hardcore P3D user (or was up until a few months ago) and I love all those addons. I beta tested for realair - the Legacy is my fav addon of all time. But still the stability of XP, among other things, draws me ever closer.

Re: Awesome XP11 C172 GTN mod
As cool as the GTN looks, I just purchased XP11 and am beyond thrilled with the "X-Plane" 530/430 combo and the functionality!!
I am fortunate to fly behind a G1000, but even for practice, the functionality of the 530/430 in X-Plane is great (finally). X-Plane has really come a long way and PilotEdge sure does add to the realism.
