changes to the live map

Post by Keith Smith »

The live map now longer shows the drones by default. This speeds up the load time considerably and gives people the information they're likely to want by default.

If you do want to see/follow drones on the map, click the 'show' link in the show/hide section.

The map is now accessible at http://map.pilotedge.net/map

The altitude and speed displays on the summary screen of the live map now longer involve precision to the radius of subatomic particles. I still need to alter the pop-up boxes, though.

Additionally, aircraft that are tuned to non-atc frequencies will still have their frequencies listed (122.80, 122.70, etc).

As a result of the data center outage today, I've severed the link between the flight data server (new jersey) from the web infrastructure (fremont, CA early afternoon, relocated to Dallas, TX late this afternoon). This is why pilot names are not appearing on the map, or on the home page.

The link will be reestablished before we open for business tomorrow morning.
