Weather and P3dv4.2

Weather and P3dv4.2

Postby pkofman » Wed Mar 07, 2018 6:52 am

So last night flying from kvny to Ksfo i has an odd situation. I was way off on the alt setting and altitudes. It seems that my alt setting ,( although corrected to the atc provided setting) was not consistent with what pilot edge was expecting. I had the weather in p3dv4 set to clear but regardless I was off by allot on the altitude and always in the wrong place. The net effect was that the airplanes autopilot was always seeking out the incorrect altitude ( mooney acclaim ) . I must have tried to reset the alt setting a gazillion times but nothing seemed to correct the situation.

So my question is to my fellow pilots . what weather settings do you use on pilot edge and do you allow a 3rd party wx program to provide data .

This really messed up my flight last night .. Ive been on pilot edge for a long time but never had this problem in the past

Opinion and protocol would be appreciated

Thank you

Pete

Hey Peter,

Feel free to use whatever weather program or settings that you like. If you end up using something that is different than what's currently going on in the real world, you can just put "custom weather" in your remarks. The controller will always issue the real world current altimeter setting to you. If your weather program is giving you something different, just ignore the altimeter setting the controller just gave you and use the one that your weather program gives you.

Ok good to know. The altimeter setting on the weather in the sim was off by almost 1000 feet for some reason so the controller asked me my flight plan altitude and I was much higher than my flight plan and what she expected, That made for allot of frustration on top of a really bad internet connection. Very bad experience so i just gave up and went and had a beer! So in the future i will add the line to remarks in the flight plan if I m using custom weather . Thanks for the heads up. Much appreciated
