TEC route update

Post by Keith Smith »

TEC Routes evolve over time. Those are the short-range mandatory routes with funny codes that are so prevalent in Socal. It seems the FAA is slowly removing VOR radial references and replacing them with specific points in space.

Case in point, the LAXP26 USED to read:
LAXX DP SLI SLI148R V25 PACIF V208 LAX118R CARDI MZB320R MZB

Notice the 3 radial references? SLI148R, LAX118R and MZB320R.

Here's the shiny, new-improved LAXP26 route:
LAXX-DP SLI SLI148/20 BAYER V25 PACIF V208 HUBRD CARDI MZB

It looks like changed "LAXX DP" to "LAXX-DP" to improve clarify, but more importantly, the radial references are gone, replaced with SLI148/20 (which is SLI 148 radial at 20 DME). They also finally utilized HUBRD instead of using V208 and the LAX 118 radial.

It's worth noting that the track over the ground hasn't changed at all. This is just a different, and slightly more efficient way, of describing the route.

Special thanks to Ken, maintainer of MyFlightRoute.com, for picking up the TEC route changes in this month's AIRAC cycle!
