About Traffic Pattern (base left/right)

Post by Alex56 »

Hello, everyone!
In the SkyVector map at airport KSBP rw 11/29 has Traffic Pattern: left.
Why in the description of CAT-2 is written:

San Luis Tower: “Cessna 123AB, San Luis Tower, enter right base runway 29, report 2 mile right base.”
N123AB: “Report 2 mile right base, runway 29, Cessna 123AB.”
When on a 2 mile right base.
N123AB: “Cessna 123AB, 2 mile right base.”.

I think, if the traffic pattern is left, then the right base should not be.
I think, rw 11/29 should be left base. Is this a mistake in the description or am I mistaken? Thanks.

The left/right traffic depiction that you're referring to is only relevant if the tower is closed. When the tower is operational, you fly the pattern entry that you are assigned. It's common to assign pattern entry instructions based on direction of arrival, or current traffic conditions.
