Flight following minimum altitude

Post by dhplane »

Hi guys,

I know there's probably an easy answer to this one but I couldn't find it...

Can I request VFR advisories (flight following) if I'm flying at less than 3,000? What is the minimum altitude for flight following?

Thanks as always,

Joey

You can always try, however at some point you’ll be below radar coverage so the controller will either terminate you or suggest you climb. I once talked to a SoCal controller who said they refuse flight following below 3000 due to the amount of class D tower coordination that is required on their end. But you’re always welcome to try...

Thx... that's what I figured, but I wanted to make sure... don't like to create problems for the controllers... thx again!
