[1830PDT Oct 10 2016] Flying the first 3 CAT ratings

The new CAT ratings are upon us! Let’s work through the first 3 flights (L52-L88, L88-KSBP, and then 3 laps of the pattern at KSBP).

This will be hosted via a live twitch stream that will be linked from the home page. Viewers can watch the stream and read the chat interaction with other users without logging in, but posting to the chat requires a free Twitch account.

If you're already comfortable with VFR flight planning and radio communications, feel free to join in on the flight! The more the merrier! I'll be briefing all of the flights first, so I suspect I'll be jumping in the sim 20-30 mins after the workshop starts.

Will these streams also be recorded for viewing later on, so I don't have to get up in the middle of the night? Central European Standard Time over here. ;)

Yes, the workshops will be made available for later viewing and will likely be embedded into the content of the ratings themselves.

I plan on attending tonight as a newbie pilot to PE. Will be flying the A2A Cherokee N569FL and spawning in PE at parking spot 7 from the Orbx SoCal reworked airport of P3Dv3.4 in case the default or Xplane locations are different. I will not be watching the twitch stream so my question is will be talking to each other on Oceano Unicom 122.7 prior to flight as a lead follow group for those who plan to fly this or what exactly?

Glad to hear you'll be joining. I'll be in N132KT, aircraft type not yet decided. I'm not specifically dictating any procedures for those who plan to join the flight. I'll be leaving around 20-30 mins after the workshop starts and will be announcing on 122.70 accordingly. We can simulate 'meeting in the FBO' prior to heading out to the airplane using frequency 123.45 for informal chat before engine start, then swap to 122.70 for normal comms after that. Same deal at L88, too.

Whether you fly ahead or behind is totally up to you.

Just a reminder, this is coming up in 25 minutes (1830 PDT) with the flight starting around 20 mins after the start of the workshop. Check my twitch stream in the signature or click the link from the home page once the stream is live.

See you in a few minutes. Can't fly as I am not at home. But looking forward to the stream.
