Is Prepar3D scenery more accurate than FSX?

Post by BTR_Bob »

I've been planning to jump to Prepar3D for a while. I've been wondering though, are the scenery and navaids more up to date than FSX? For instance are the taxiways at Chino correct? Chino changed their taxiway designations since FSX came out. I end up taxiing with an old diagram and a new one. Similarly, how is the KSNA runway 2-20 change handled, with an Prepar3D update or find some third party source?

The same can happen for navaids, I believe FSX has an outer marker at Chino that was decommissioned awhile ago.
I've used PilotEdge to Bust the Rust and bought an airplane.

Surprised no one answered this. Short answer is no. P3D currently uses the same, now outdated, airport and nav data as FSX. There may be some isolated differences, but I couldn't tell you what they are. Chino I know for sure has not updated. What is unknown is if LM will ever bring that data up to date in a future release. Popular opinion suggest that 3rd party resources will be the norm going forward...seems to be a recurring theme.
