Really laggy Traffic, Prepar3d v2

Post by golfpilot »

The traffic is really laggy, while taxiing the plane will go forward about a 100 yards then will jerk back 50 or so and do this all throughout flight. During flight the distance is even further. Any suggestions on how to stop the lag?

Can you tell us something about your PC specs and the location you're starting at? I've only seen this on X-Plane and it was due to my overtaxed PC trying to process the scenery in the LA basin with tons of cars and drone traffic.

4790k
16GB Ram @1600 Cl7
2x GTX 970 (I do realize SLI doesn't work with P3D)
Samsung Pro SSDs only
4K monitor (run P3D at 4K resolution)
I use a lot of add-ons. Obrbx galore, REX weather.
Carenado airplanes

I go light on the cars and stuff, have the default traffic turned off.
The lagging was really bad today and Banning airport (KBNG) and a few of the airplanes I saw enroute there from Bermuda Dunes.

The aircraft are pushed around using SimConnnect. If you have other addons that use SimConnect, too, P3D will do some throttling which can result in laggy traffic.

Also, are you using PE on the same machine as the sim, or a separate machine? If it's a separate machine, then definitely consider moving it to the same machine.

I use it on the same machine. I do use Foreflight, that uses simconnect. Very possible that is my problem. Thanks Keith

4K with all that stuff and a 970? Methinks your issue is there.
Thanks,
