Running Windows 10 with a headset and mic on P3D v3.2.
Both are set to default and test out just fine with other programs for both playback and recording.
However, PE tells me that is unable to initialize voice.
I've tried reinstalling, running as an admin, etc..... and still no joy.
Any suggestions?

Re: PE Client fails to start because no mic found
The only known issue that I'm aware of is with Plantronics headsets. Something about the operation of their driver or hardware doesn't permit our audio library from accessing it as an audio device.
Drop a note to support@pilotedge.net and we'll coordinate time to do a screen share to check it out in case it's something we can quickly address.

Re: PE Client fails to start because no mic found
I have used Plantronics headsets for a long time (Skype mainly) and found that they work perfectly with the default Windows drivers.
The drivers posted on the Plantronics web site are dated and very confusing. Also adding functionality not really needed.
My suggestion is IF the Plantronics specific drivers have been installed remove and try with the default drivers. This might offer something to try.

Hello out there!
I too am having this issue. Windows 10.
I have an ASUS Xonar DGX Audio device that records my voice through headset Microphone aand plays back in my ears.
I read something about a firewall port....really?'

Is your microphone set up to be used as the default communication device in audio settings?
port forwarding for unsolicited IP traffic
There are TONS of us using PE with absolutely zero router configuration. Just the default configuration.spenconk wrote:I forwarded port UDP 3290. Still no joy....

Port forwarding is mainly used to allow unsolicited IP to be allowed from the outside to the inside. Normally the default router configuration works because the firewall is opened by default due to the outbound packet flow.

Hello Marcus,
Where are you wanting to see it as the default device?
IN the screen shot above its says it is the Default Device for microphone.
Can someone provide support by phone? or something?
Thanks so much!

OK! I disabled all of the sound devices that said currently unavailable in the screen shot. I also unplugged the Magic Jack phone. Rebooted and YES! No error about mic found.
I have another issue but I will make a new post for that!
