I made no attempt to optimize the routings, just the first airport that fit the criteria.

5000 NM... That's pretty good for staying in LA Center.

Wouldn't that be half the fun? There's a like a month's worth of flights there. Thanks for putting together the list.

PS--did you do it from memory?

Answering own question, the dropdown in myflightroute.com is my guess

This is a pretty amazing idea. I'm definitely going to steal that skyvector link and start plugging away at these.

I won't lie, I have thought about doing a Fly With Me series where we tackle the ZLA fields in alphabetical order as an ongoing project. It's awesome to see this take shape.

You'll have to write back to AOPA and say, "check out what we did instead" :)

We've been thinking about missions that people could do beyond the VFR and IFR ratings...this is a perfect example. Eventually we'd have forum badges to automate this, but for now, people can manually maintain their VFR/IFR/alphabet status in their sigs.

If you are doing the Alphabet challenge, put it in your forum signature to say what you're up to. Let the games begin!!

Who's up for making sure there's X-Plane scenery at all of those airports? :)

Regardless, this is a great idea and a worthy challenge to fly!

I added 15AZ for the Q airport per Ken's suggestion.

In other news, I need to be a lot more careful about random things I post.
PS--did you do it from memory?
Through the first hang up (J) I had done it via memory. From there I used some of our internal look ups for a quick identifier list.

Rough idea for a badge. Green for VFR. Color for IFR--red?

If only the magical myflightroute.com could generate alphabet routes for us and PEaware would have the badge next to the completed route in the history...
