Hi Keith. I have been worked by you several times flying Flight Sim in the LA area. Always appreciated your abilities and am interested in your new project. I have been using Flight Simulator for about 25 years or so, back to the first generation of the sim. I was a pilot in the USAF, then controller at St. Louis and later Ft. Worth Centers and even later an automation specialist at ZFW. I have been associated with Satco and the later iteration Vatsim since the mid 90s I guess. I joined Vatsim with the purpose of giving young Flight Sim pilots the chance to experience ATC in a reasonable manner. I controlled at Ft. Worth and later Houston Centers for many years, finally 'retiring', mainly due to the increasing bureaucracy of the hobby. The new project sounds exciting to say the least. Can you give me an estimate of when Flight Simulator will be incorporated into your program? Thanks for your energy and vision.

Hello everyone,

My name is Dean Perry.

I been a licensed pilot since 2006 with a fixed-wing and rotary-wing ppl. I have worked on an instrument rating, but have had to cut back on that plan until I have more time and money. I see PilotEdge as a way to maintain or improve my flying and instrument skills. Most of my flying has been in single-engine Cessna C172's and Piper Cherokee's. I have flown a fairly large range of small GA aircraft including a SportStar and Diamond DA20. I love LSA's, they are simple, easy to fly, handle great, generally have great visibility and would be easy to land in a tight place in an emergency.

I have some complex time in a Piper Arrow III and quite a few hours of "hood" time.

My helo time has been spent mostly in Robinson R-22's and a few hours in R-44's. My ultimate rotary-wing goal is to spend a little time in a turbine powered helo, even if it is just a short joy ride with an instructor.

I've had to severely cut back my real world flying budget, so I use Flight Simulator and X-plane to help me keep my head in the game until I can get back into the air. I seriously believe that if you treat the flight simulator as a tool rather than a toy, it can really improve your real world skills.

I live in San Diego and this is where I do most of my flying. My current home base is KMYF (San Diego Mongomery Field).

Hello Everyone,

Forgive me for taking so long to introduce myself...I put the "pro" in procastinater :). At any rate, My name is Phil, I'm 47 years old and live in McMinnville TN. I'm originally from Philadelphia, PA and have been through KPHL enough times to know where all the soft pretzel vendors are - lol! I work from home for my wife who owns her own internet business. Living in rural Tennessee you wouldn't think I live near an airport, but the county airport ( http://airnav.com/airport/KRNC ) is only 4 miles from my house. XPlane has the KRNC airport scenery all wrong. I'm hoping to learn how to do scenery overlays and fix KRNC, but that's in the future :)

As far as flying, I am sim enthusiast who wants to get as close to the real experience of flying as I can without having to take out flight insurance - Pilotedge seems like a good match to help me along that path. My flight software is X-Plane 9xx. I would like my virual cockpit to look like ianbennett's, but until then my virtual environment "currently" is setup as...

-One desktop computer with two monitors: I stretch the cockpit screen across both monitors
-One laptop that is networked as a slave to the desktop and another montor: I use the "local map" view on one monitor and any other internet sources that I may need (skyvector, airnav, aviationweather dot gov, etc) on the other monitor
-one flightstick (Logitech) I use this for my rudder
-Saitek yoke and throttle quadrant
-Saitek Pro Flight Panels ( Multi, Radio and switch)

You'd think with all that equipment I would be a kick butt pilot...lol, let's just say I'm a work in progress ;)

Hope to get to know you all!

Thanks,
Phil

Hi all,
I'm Jerry Musselman, of Bedford, Tx. I was a controller on Vatsim at Ft. Worth and later Houston Centers starting about 10 years ago or so. I was a USAF pilot in the 50s. Wanted to fly F86s against the Migs. War ended before I got my commission, and then they had too many pilots, so wound up flying transports in Europe (C119s and C123s) - pretty boring. Then it was to the FAA as a controller in Ft. Worth Center, and when we got computers, went back to school to learn to program main-frames. Retired in 1994 and bought into a partnership in a Cessna 182. Nice airplane, took lots of trips - finally decided to sell it two years ago, so now do all my flying on the sim. That's about my story.

Hi everyone, my name is Ken Cotuno, flew private as a young man and once my career and family took off, my flying landed! Took to the sims and went thru each generation, over 2000 hours, finally graduating to a PFC Cat III system and flying a King Air B200. Looking forward to Pilots Edge to add another level of sophistication. Look forward to flying with you in the future!

Hello All,

My name is Andrzej, I was born in Poland, I came to US 17+ years ago,I am 54 years old, I was an aviation enthusiast since I was a kid.
I have a hearing problem that started early in the childhood and stopped me from pursuing my dream.

As a substitute, I started to fly radio controlled airplanes several years ago.

Few years ago I discovered X-Plane and soon after VATSIM.
I was flying on VATSIM for about a year using text only.

Few weeks ago I started real life flying lessons and started corresponding with Keith Smith who was very friendly and supportive for me.

I was scared by the thought on using voice ( my hearing problem ) but thank Keith encouragement and help, I finally decided to give it a try.
I flew few times on PE and managed the interaction with ATC the best I could.
It is not perfect ( I do not know anything that is anyway :D ) but it seems doable.

I am very happy and excited about flying on PE.

That is my short, boring story but thank you for reading.

Cheers.

Andrzej

Great job, Keith! It's a pleasure to be here! I'm probably the oldest SEL with instrument rating aboard but, at age 90, of course, no longer fly real tine. My MD laughs if I even suggest it.

Hello everyone, I am a RW private pilot approaching 1 year since earning my PPL and about 85 hours, all in C172. I fly out of KOLM and spend a lot of time just flying around the Seattle area.

It was a combination of VATSIM (especially the ZLA pilot cert program) and a RW intro flight on Kauai that convinced me to pursue real-world flying, and I haven't regretted it for a minute. But I haven't flown on VATSIM much in the past several months, for a variety of reasons. PilotEdge looks very compelling. I think it might strike just the right balance of commitment, quality of pilots and controllers, and availability to create an environment for those of us who want to use simulation to stay sharp in the real world. And for a VFR pilot, that's especially important in the Pacific Northwest, where VFR days are a rarity for a good part of the year.

I will join you all on Sundays and Wednesdays when I can, and I look forward to the full launch of the service in the near future. If you ever need a pilot to help with particular traffic scenarios or whatever, I'm happy to oblige...just send me a PM.

Keith, thanks for taking a stab at this, I really do hope you are successful.

Hi All

My name is Wayne Dibert and I just spent the morning reading your FAQ section and all related web pages
in reference to Pilot Edge. Keith this is exactly the system I have been
longing for ever since I started flying my first simulator. I have been
using the MS system since I think MS4 or somewhere then. It was many years
ago, I believe in the 1980's. One of the main reasons I purchased a computer
in the first place. I have always loved aviation and flying. I started at a
small airfield in NE Philadelphia. As a line boy and general help and then I
started flying there. Have many hours flying single and twin's. Mostly
Piper's but had the chance to fly other machines. Greatest thrill was time
in a Lear. What an experience. Well marriage and many years later MS9 is my
favorite time to get away. I even was in the Marines PLC program and
qualified for Jet training. So when I learned of your system I am excited to
see I may get he chance to really interact and perform like the real thing.

While I enjoy VATSIM and was with SATCO before
that, I believe what you have to offer will be so much better.

Well to all, I just wanted to drop you a line and express words of
encouragement and look forward to getting the chance to fly on this network.
In two years I will be building my own 747 cockpit and hope to have it on
your network. One of my goals as I head into retirement and my second life.

Thanks again and good luck. Hope to hear of good things soon

Regards
Wayne
