Greetings,
So I've been "flying" on the network for 3 months now. I figure it's about time I say hello.

My path to PilotEdge began on a United Airlines flight some years back. United is, to my knowledge, the only major carrier that pipes ATC chatter to its passengers. Needless to say, I was enthralled the first time I listened in. I recall my complementary napkin becoming scribbled with jargon words spoken by stoic pilots and fast-talking controllers. Most of these jargon words, I now suspect, were probably just GPS fixes. But I did key the term "localizer", and since then, I've been tip-toeing my way closer to the world of aviation. Late last year, I picked up x-plane for my mac, along with a yoke and peddles. Next was a new PC to handle the frames. Then I stumbled upon Vatsim, followed by the pilot training program associated with ZLA (designed by Keith, I believe). That linked me to the training videos and workshops and... basically, since January, I've been in full geek mode.

Now, what I really want to do is earn my PPL. But it turns out real flying is expensive, a fact everyone here surely knows. So a certificate will have to wait. In the meantime, I'm more than content with the challenges of the simulator. Even though I don't have real-world cockpit time to base a comparison, it amazes me how such a complex system can be modeled so well. And, of course, PilotEdge takes it to another level. (Who knew simulated flying could be so cerebral?!?)

Cheers to Keith and the controllers for an awesome service and great execution.
Happy flying,
Erik

Gday all Peter from Sydney Australia. I have just done my first couple of flights on PE and all i can say is Amazing. I have logged over 1500 hours on vatsim and once held a ppl. I thought i new a bit about flying online and was surprised how far out of tune i am. PE thank you for making me realize how good VFR is and how complicated it can be.

Any Aussies flying PE? If so would be good to hook up as our hours are a bit off with the USA.

Thanks Keith and thank you to all involved in PE the new revolution of online flying.

Greetings PE community!

My name is Chris Barnes. I'm very excited to be here. I've been a real world pilot for about 12 years. I was told about Pilot Edge by a friend and I must say I'm pretty impressed so far. In real life I'm an air traffic controller in a tower/tracon facility.

See you guys in the air!

Hello everyone! Writing to you from sunny Dubai in the UAE. I've been a member of PilotEdge for over a year and am just now realizing I never submitted an introduction post to say hello!

My name is Michael Smith. I've held an FAA PPL since 2002, became a ground instructor in 2008, instrument airplane rated in 2009 and have been delivering classroom instruction to pilots and air traffic controller trainees for the last six years. I've also served as a simulation specialist and remote pilot operator for controller simulator training.

Looking forward to enjoying the time on PilotEdge and keeping proficient!

Hey everyone,

I’ve been a PE member for a couple months now, but finally did my first flight on the network yesterday, so I guess it’s time to introduce myself.

My name is Travis, and I’ve been simming since the early days of (then SubLogic) Flight Simulator, which I had for the Apple IIC. I’ve been doing real world flying since 2000, though it took me a number of years and several instructors lost to airline jobs to finally get my certificate. I’m currently working on my instrument, flying out of El Monte, CA.

I’ve flown on VATSIM for a long time, though not regularly, and heard about PilotEdge recently through the AviatorCast podcast. Since I live and fly in the LA area, PE sounded perfect for me.

For those interested, here’s a photo of my setup. I’m running Prepar3D 2.2 with Saitek flight controls, except for the Flight Illusion force feedback yoke. Emuteq G1000 hardware with the Flight1Tech software.

Good morning/afternoon/evening to everyone,

My name is Cristian and it has been about a month and a half that I has been flying consistently on PE. I can not thank you guys enough for this amazing platform as it has helped me a lot to get reconnected with general aviation in US, which I love and miss so much.

A little bit about me, I am an Airline Transport Pilot and I am lucky enough to fly the B-777 for one of the best and biggest airlines in the world. I love my job and I get to fly in the magnificent B-777 all over the world. I feel really blessed with my job, however nothing in life is perfect and the bit that is missing from my life right now, is "real Flying" and by that I means general aviation flying, no autopilots, no flight directors, no auto-throtles and no f**** magenta lines to follow...

Before coming to my actual job in the middle east I used to rent a cessna 172 and fly by myself or go with family or friends and that fulfilled my "need" for real flying, however unfortunately where I live now, there is no such thing as general aviation... I even wanted to build my own plane with the help of my son and once finish go fly in it... that is a dream that I still have and look forward to make it true, but in a distant future. In here I will probably go to jail if I mention that I want to build a plane.... and general aviation is simply non existent...

So now you can see that is right here that Pilot Edge have saved me, because it is the best alternative and a great tool that now I have and I love it. I am very happy practising a lot of flying and procedures, doing mistakes and learning or re-learning several things in the confort of my studio. You can see me online flying either the magnificent cessna 337 as N1244S or the King Air B200 either as N84PC or N200WB, depending on my mood if I choose to fly the garmin 1000 Blackhawk mod or the standard one. I may even fly the little cessna 172 from time to time as N401LP.

I look forward to many more flights, learning opportunities and pure enjoyment even if it has to be only virtual for the time being.

I am open to anything I can help with to anyone in this community.

Cheers:
Cristian.
Flying is my passion, Aviation is my life.
