When DCS support is released in the near future, KLSV, KINS and KTNX will become towered airports on PE, however, just like the real world, civilian aircraft ops will not be permitted. They are being opened to cater to the DCS community.

I don't do DCS but I enjoy flying my F-14 on PE occasionally. It's mostly been KNKX -- W291 for CV ops -- KNTD or reverse. But I've been planning to add KLSV. Will that be permitted? Will FSX and DCS play together at the same field?
Thanks,
Bruce

We'll have to discuss that internally. The DCS folks can only see people who are on the same native multiplayer service (we can't add traffic into the DCS environment). We haven't yet decided if we'll encourage ppl to use a single PE-maintained DCS server (to allow all PE DCS players to be able to see each other or not). Let's see how it plays out.

First of all apologies for kickin'up this old topic but why start a new one if the issue seems related. I just finished this short VFR flight on PE:

http://peaware.pilotedge.net/flight.cfm?id=331981

Once airborne i tried to contact ATC for flight following but the 120.7 frequency remained silent, most likely because KNUW is handled as untowered on PE. This time I could stay clear of controlled airspace during the whole flight but that just might not always be the case. Who and how to contact? On Airnav and the VFR Sector Chart I could not find any other frequency than that 120.7 of KNUW-dep/app. Should I contact an ARTCC unit and if so, where to find the relevant frequencies? A little help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Gabor

If the controlled airspace you were staying clear of is the KNUW Class C, then you didn’t need to worry about it. Since KNUW in non-towered, its Class C airspace goes away so I assume approach does also. But for flight following I would’ve checked the IFR low chart and you can see the overlying controlling activity is Seattle Center and can be reached on 128.5.

That helps! Thanks a lot, it didn't even come up in my stupid mind to check an IFR chart for a VFR flight. My bad.

You did exactly what you should do IRL. Or even on PE approaching a civil class Charlie, call approach listed on the VFR sectional. Mil airfields are one of the very few anomalies on PE.

Gabor,

Read the Hidden Gem section of the WUS coverage page: https://www.pilotedge.net/pages/western-expansion

It actually uses Whidbey as an example.
