How close do I have to be with the speed restriction @GRAMM?
I was going to fly this with the ViperJet but I only get a top cruise around 270 with that plane. As I will be descending to this point I suspect I will reach the target speed but it started me wondering what are the tolerances for these restrictions, both level and speed?
I assume the speed is mostly for sequencing so it depends maybe on the current situation?

Re: Question on speed restrictions
From an FAA FAQ on Speed restrictions:
20. Q. My aircraft’s MMO/VMO (e.g. VMO = 250 KIAS) is below a speed restriction published on the STAR (e.g. (WP Name) At 280 KT), or because of a MEL/CDL limitation, I am unable to comply with a speed restriction published on a STAR. Am I prohibited from flying the STAR?
A. NO. However, ATC may query you concerning the speed approaching the restriction. Advise the controller of the need to maintain the lower speed.
So sounds like it's no problem - as long as you advise ATC.

Re: Question on speed restrictions
Is this the new aerobask viperjet? I'd say something is wrong with your setup as I hit the same speed given on reviews...
Maximum speed cruise (FL280) 400 KTAS
Economy cruise speed (FL280) 350 KTAS
Approach speed 120-130 KIAS
95-105 KIAS - Landing speed
You should have no issues hitting that required speed.

Re: Question on speed restrictions
let's not confuse ktas and kias. what is the vne speed for the jet?

Re: Question on speed restrictions
VNE @SL is 375 KIAS
VNE @FL280 is 285 KIAS
Max cruise @FL280 400 KTAS
I typically get 270-275 KIAS while at FL220 with temps being my limiter.
This all means that I would likely get the correct speed at GRAMM as it is at lower altitude from cruise, I just thought I would ask about the tolerance as it pertains to speed restrictions.
I skipped over the I-09 and did the I-10, now my OCD is kicking in and I need to get that I-09 done. I have the 732 so I will use that....need to get ready for the expansion anyway
Thanks

Re: Question on speed restrictions
Keith, I realize they're ktas vs kias, what I'm saying is my kia are near the same being listed as kta in the manual of the plane. That his KIAS are much lower than I'm seeing on four different systems.

You can get close to 400KIAS @FL280?davidspreckeriii wrote:Keith, I realize they're ktas vs kias, what I'm saying is my kia are near the same being listed as kta in the manual of the plane. That his KIAS are much lower than I'm seeing on four different systems.
