MyFlightRoute updated with "Hdden Gems"

Post by kullery »

The airport database on MyFlightRoute has been updated to include all of the "hidden gem" airports in the WUS expansion area. This includes links to all applicable SIDs, STARs, and procedures for these airports. METARs from the nearest reporting station are reported on the CRAFT page for all of these airports.

A few things to note:
  • Since these are treated as "non-towered" airports, they are listed as "no tower" if you are using the flight search capability
  • Only CTAF and tower frequencies are included because other frequencies (i.e. clearance, ground) are difficult to compile and they would be useless anyway
  • Flight search capability includes the option of selecting the specific ARTCC(s) you are interested in searching
  • Note that some search times can be excessive if you select all private airports in all ARTCCs
  • Nearest center facilities and frequencies can now be found based on your specific location OR for a specific airport
  • City and State for each airport is now included on the CRAFT page

Some "fun" facts:
  • Total number of airports is currently 2,787 (airports only, heliports are not included due to high volume)
  • There are 7,764,582 unique flights available in the coverage area.
  • If you fly 420 flights per day, you can complete them all in just about 50 years!!!
  • Longest known flight is 1501NM 1XS7-11S
