Other audio connection options?

I'm looking for options to connect to the network (audio) without going through x-plane. Are there any other ways to connect? Through a web site or otherwise a light widget / app of some kind?
I've successfully used PE and x-plane in the past, and I know how to make it work, it's just more painful than it's worth - since I upgraded my system to a cloud-based gaming desktop.
