Ecstatic! I flew my first flight on PE

Hello,

Im new to pilot edge. I flew my first flight from Las Vegas McCarran to LAX. Wow, what an experience. But what would a first flight really be without a couple of errors and embarrassing moments?

So I was hoping my fellow Pilot Edge friends could help me out. So, when I arrived at LAX runway 25R with my 737 800, I kind of lost my ability to keep up with the controller regarding taxi arrival instructions. I was too busy trying to exit the runway and determine which gate I needed to head to.

So my questions are:

Does the tower controller assign you a parking gate or do I need to request that during approach?

After landing and slowing on the runway, do I chose my own runway exit or does the tower controller decide that?

Do I assume the tower contoller will hand me off to ground or do I just switch to ground myself after exiting the runway.

I apologize if these questions are elementary, but I just could not find the answers searching on my own.

Thank in adance!
Captain MD

1. For the purposes of PE, the pilot needs to have a gate in mind and tells either the tower controller during roll out or the ground controller when clearing the runway. Usually they will prompt you by asking where you are parking.

2. Both can and will happen. Usually, you should take the first turn off you can after slowing down. Sometimes the tower will give you a specific exit.

3. Tower will hand you off. Don't switch over to ground on your own. This is different for take off when at the hold line and ready to go, you switch over to tower on your own.
