Pattern work at KASE?

Post by nigelmcelwee »

I have always loved this airport. Such a unique airport with departures on one end of the runway and arrivals on the other. I have seen some great videos with planes taking off and climbing out above those landing.

One question though....is it possible to do pattern work at KASE? It seems unlikely without doing a turn around on the runway....just curious if its doable?

I don't think it is. Per the chart supplement http://aeronav.faa.gov/afd/01feb2018/sw ... EB2018.pdf " Terrain will not allow for normal tfc patterns"

It's possible in the sense that ATC will allow it (using either runway with 15 preferred), it's not possible as Scott mentions in the sense of "traffic patterns".

Yeah I figured it wasnt. Just seemed like a cool place to do some turn arounds and practice. Such a beautiful airport!!
