Setting Audio Level

I haven't signed on for a subscription yet, so excuse me if this is covered during software setup.

How do users set the right audio level for broadcast so that PilotEdge controllers, or indeed other participants, don't have to deal with transmissions that are too quiet or too loud? Or is audio level somehow addressed automatically by the software?

Thanks

Believe it or not, there is an audio level setting. It may vary depending on the sim you're using, but fear-not...it's there.

Thanks Kevin. Sounds like people also know how to use it. Listening to the PilotEdge receiver, voice levels seem fairly consistent, which is not necessarily the case with the alternatives :)

The audio system normalizes the volume in real-time. You can actually hear it if you listen closely while using the Receiver. A quiet transmission will start and will get louder to basically match the 'average' volume over a ~2 second period. Similarly, if someone bumps their mic during a call, you'll hear a loud pop, then their voice will get really quiet, then return back to 'average' volume). That's the system compensating for the loud pop, then returning back to normal.

The X-Plane pilot client also lets you adjust the gain via the actual radio volume knobs (where the developers have implemented it), and/or you can do it via the master Radio volume slider in the X-Plane settings.
