Contacting Centre frequencies at opening hour

Post by Zebra »

Hi Lads, currently on a flight, but departed before normal operating hours. I have been trying to get anyone on a frequency for a while now. have tried app/dep freqs for fields I'm overflying, guard, and various other frequencies but cant get a response, I can occasionally hear other aircraft and atc, but they either can't hear me because my mic is jagged or I'm not on the right freq, have been monitoring guard the whole time, and have heard nothing. I'm nearly out of the coverage area now so not too concerned, but in the future whats the best way to get a hold of atc when in a UIR/FIR when they come online?

Cheers

Look for the postage stamps on the IFR enroute charts, or contacting a nearby approach facility should also do the trick. It seems like you may have been having mic issues as your methods sounded good. Did you try the 123.45 self radio check? Or did you try checking the pilotedge live map to see what frequency the network thought you were on?

Thanks Kevin, I didnt try 123.45 but I was looking at the map, I did have a few troubles connecting at first, so may have just been one of those things.
