Hi Folks,

New guy question...I tried the published (125.75) frequency for Oakland Center for an IFR release from Mammoth (KMMH), but no luck. Is there a Pilotedge trick here I should know about?

Thanks!

See: https://www.pilotedge.net/pages/getting-started

Pick up IFR clearances from the ground at non-towered airports on 122.20. This simulates a phone call to the overlying Center controller. Address them as “Denver Center,” “Oakland Center,” “Seattle Center,” etc based the ARTCC of your airport (easily found in the Chart Supplement, Skyvector, Airnav, etc)

Also, if you just tried this today, note the operating hours @ https://www.pilotedge.net/pages/operati ... rvice-area

APCH/DEP SVC PRVDD BY OAKLAND ARTCC FREQS 125.75/284.65 (BISHOP RCAG).
That transmitter/receiver is located at BISHOP and would not be reachable from the ground at MMH IRL. It does not say that clearance is provided on that frequency. It says, "APP/DEP SVC" which implies that the service is provided airborne.

Additionally, there is this:
COMMUNICATIONS PRVDD BY RIVERSIDE RADIO ON FREQ 122.15 (MAMMOTH RCO).
There is an RCO at Mammoth which hooks you up to Riverside Radio, which is a Flight Service function. PE doesn't simulate Flight Service, hence, the correct procedure would be the one outlined on the Getting Started page which Ken refers to above.
