FREE Scenery!

Post by TexFly »

Hello Everyone,

You might know this already but if you are using MegaSceneryEarth (I bought the SOCAL package and it is great...) you can now download free updated airports here: http://www.mseairports.com/index.php?page_id=1146. I just downloaded the California pack and will test in the next few days.

The site made on Computer Pilot Nov/Dec 2011 and has more than 100 aiports (CA, NY, NJ) .

Hope you enjoy.

I installed and I followed all the instructions, including getting the new terrain.cfg file. However now I find that instead of oceans I have land mass stretching for infinity :-)
any idea what I may have done wrong?
thanks

Hello, I understand the airfields there are for MegaSceneryEarth, whereas SOCAL is a MegaSceneryX package, and those two are different products. I've checked out MegaSceneryEarth and they don't cover any of the Southern California yet. I'm curious if these airports are compatible with FSX default and/or MegaSceneryX. Please share when you install.

Cheers,
Sabre.

I installed with megascenary x (socal). Maybe that's why I was having issues?

Personally, I would doubt that, Shammah. Did you follow all the instructions and install the update?

yes I did. the problems seemed to start when I installed the mod terrain cfg file. but even after removing that, still had the issues of no shorelines, water

I would then try to use terrain.cfg fix from the other link, than TexFly posted:

http://forum.simflight.com/topic/44491- ... incfg-fix/

I haven't tried neither of them yet, but I tend to do so and see what happens. Didn't you back up your original terrain.cfg?

Hope this will help.

I haven't had a chance to test yet. I agree with Sabre, as best practice ALWAYS backup ANYTHING you overwrite in FSX.

If you didn't I can dig the file out and send to you, if it helps...
