VFR at night by shifting sim time?

Hello, new to pilotedge today, loving it so far.
Most of my practice time will be in the evening, is it acceptable to shift my flight sims time to daytime hours so I can practice VFR atc comms during the "day"? If so do I need to communicate this with ATC?
