We'll be doing another early morning VFR group flight this Saturday 4/24. We will be departing from an uncontrolled field again, but you'll never know if you land at an uncontrolled or PE-staffed field. This flight is not AP friendly, I love flying VFR via valleys, rivers, and roads. I have included the skyvector link, along with the approximate route, however, there are some nuanced turns that may not be captured properly if relying on GPS only.

The Flight:
Start your sim of choice, load up at a vacant ramp location in Ranger Creek (21W) and log into the Pilotedge network to join. We will use the #Briefing Room 1 on the Pilotedge discord server for the briefing. The briefing starts at 8:00 am PDT. Information about the Pilotedge discord server can be found at the links below. After everyone is informed and ready we will advise when we switch to the local CTAF frequency.

We will begin our southward journey, taking off from a downhill sloped runway (if following contours) and will follow the valley, passing a stunning view of Mt Rainier off to our right. We will need to cross over some lower peaks that has a short valley, which will then open up into a scenic valley and do a touch and go at Packwood (55S).

After touch and go at Packwood, we will continue to follow the road as it curves down the valley south and eventually west. Passing over several private landing strips, our aim will be to do a full stop at Strom Fld (39P), a small little strip that is tucked away right north of a large hill. Careful with this one fellow pilots, if you miss the approach from the south, you will need some of that STOL power to climb or a sharp right angle to miss the hill at the end of the runway. Doable, just got to keep your wits about ya! My advice, stay low once over the hills into the valley.

Departing from Strom, we will go straight north, through some more valleys, making our way up to cross Alder Lake, a beautiful green/blue lake (at least in my ortho). Crossing the lake, we will begin our journey further west across the flat lands of WA Coast. Final destination will be Chehalis-Centralia (CLS) or Olympia Regional (OLM) depending on how many we have and preferences. Olympia is a serviced Class D, so it is advisable that you have passed at least the CAT-2 prior to this flight.
