RIteFlyer, it sounds like that machine is configured as an external visual. Start a new thread in the X-Plane pilot client software forum and I'll help you there.
Briefly, though, there are specific steps to make this work in a multi-machine configuration. See the 'multi machine configuration' section of this page: http://www.pilotedge.net/pages/connect-xplane
You'll notice that it describes the behavior of connecting the external visuals. It sounds exactly like what you described, that's what makes me think that machine is set up as an extra visual, not a master.

Hi Keith- you were absolutely right- I can’t believe I didn’t think to check those settings. I did have a multi-machine setup a while back with a projector, before just going with the TrackIR for practicing maneuvers before a real flight. It’s all good now- I appreciate it!
