11 April, 1900-2100Z — CTAF day at Banning!

We did it once, let's do it again — now at Banning.

This Saturday, 11 April, 1900-2100Z — CTAF day at KBNG-KPSP

1900-2000Z — CTAF practice at KBNG
2000-2100Z — moving to KPSP for several circuits and back to KBNG

Airports information: KBNG, KPSP. Read carefully!

There is a beautiful scenery by ORBX, which includes both KPSP and KBNG: https://www.fullterrain.com/product/kpsp.

Banning is definitely an interesting airfield to remain in the pattern at. The terrain goes up either side and there are several drones that takeoff and land there. Should be fun!

It's also a pretty heavy drone hub. If you want the drones killed during the 19-21z period, I might be able to accommodate, but I might just kill all drones during that time rather than doing it specifically for Banning (it's a bit more work to kill just the Banning drones).

Yeh, beware those crazy silent Barons from Banning :-)

And don't forget to refresh your knowledge on TRSA which is established over Palm Springs and seems to be unique for PE coverage area.

IMHO, having lots of real world ops taking place alongside a lot of drones is not at all realistic. Let me know what you'd like to do.

I did a test flight yesterday - there are three Barons taking off and landing pretty frequently, but it wasn't an issue at all while I was the only one in the pattern. From 8 circuits I did one go-around because of drones. Not sure what it will look like with several participants.

The only problem was on taxiways where drones just drive onto you. That is the main reason I'd like to have drones deactivated during the event.

50 minutes to start...

And, Keith, if it's not to late, deactivate the drones, please.

That was fun! and good practice with enough participants. A bit of drone dodging sometimes but nevertheless good fun and practice.

CTAF day at Banning Debrief

1. Drones at Banning didn't make any problems, but add some fun with several go-arounds by participants.

2. This time it was even better than a previous one! Happy to see so many participants. That was really cool!

3. Let's discuss the next airfields choice. My suggestion is to pick uncontrolled airfield which does have the FSE FBO of one of the PE members. FBO owners, please advise. And there should be a controlled airfield (C/D) at about 15-20 miles away.
