NFDC Preferred routes down?
NFDC Preferred routes down?
http://www.fly.faa.gov/rmt/nfdc_preferr ... tabase.jsp
This page never works for me... I type in the origin and destination without the "K" and tec route type. I get error "field contains more than the allowed maximum of characters for each query field"
Does this site for for anyone? If not, other than ZLA's vatsim tec route page what are you guys using?

Hi Ryan -
Try leaving out TEC in the route type (just leave it blank). I seem to get valid routes that way.
- Doug
Edit: actually, I leave out everything except the three letter origin and destination codes. I don't know if that's how it's supposed to work...

I get errors, or nothing at all, if I enter anything but the 3 letter ICAO codes of the departure and destination airports. Try that and see what happens.
I suppose I could have just said, "Ya! What Doug said!"

People should get what they want when they want it once in a while. Keeps them optimisitic.

Re: NFDC Preferred routes down?
I just entered 'sna', 'cma', 'tec' for origin, destination and route type respectively, no issue.

I think this is what Steve is referring to:
I also get this error every time I specify 'TEC' for the route type.

Yep! That's the very same error message I get when I enter anything but the departure and destination 3 letter ICAO codes.

ICAO is 4 letters. The ones you are probably thinking about, are either IATA or FAA codes(First 3 letters, latter 3 or 4).Steven Winslow wrote:3 letter ICAO codes.
Re: NFDC Preferred routes down?
I am surprised that the national source is not clear on what codes you should use.
No "K" prefix for US is misleading, why aren't they more specific, like use ICAO code without "K" prefix, IATA or FAA code.
There is no help or description button either, at least I could not find it. Anybody?

Doh!! I knew that!! What I meant to type was the ICAO code without the "K" at the beginning.Alex Stjepanovic wrote:
