Hi
While preparing for my v3 rating, I noticed in the video example that the chatty and Silex intersections were used by the pilot in his plan. Is this a required part of the flight or were they used for reference for the descending left hand turn back for the min route

I used them for reference only. You're free to make any kind of descending turn you like -- just be very aware of the Burbank Charlie airspace if you're not talking to ATC.
