File in flight?

Post by skydivnqt »

I have searched the forum and have been unable to find any reference to filing a flight plan while in flight. This is a task that happens quite often IRL and may be a good thing to incorporate into an IFR lesson or level test of some sort.

Just file like you would on the ground, or just call for a popup ...

Filing in the air in real life requires you to interact with Flight Service, which is a service we don't simulate. As Ryan suggests, you can file in the air using the same filing option that you'd use on the ground (functionally equivalent to filing with Flight Service in the air), or you can call ATC for a pop-up with nothing filed.
