OrbX Socal KSNA Taxiway C

Post by tbaac »

I'm new here, hi.

I have tried searching but couldn't find what I was looking for on this.
Its probably me being stupid but I can't see taxiway Charlie on the OrbX Socal KSNA model on FSX-SE.
Froogle didn't have H on his (which wasn't Orbx Socal), but I can't see C.

There's Alpha and 20L, separated by some grass from what I can see.

Am I being daft or is C missing? Does it matter? Do I need to tell the controller?

Thanks very much :)

Unless you are a jet, let the controller know when calling for taxi that you don't have C. ATC uses A for the airliners to pushback onto. If able, avoid the Eastside and load on the west ramps.

Do you have taxiway K? That is important for GA aircraft.

Hi Kyle

Thanks very much for the response.
I do have K, I've seen that's the entry point to 20L.

I have OrbX Socal.
What do most FSX people use for KSNA on PE?
Is it worth having LVFR KSNA if you have OrbX Socal already?

Thanks again.

Okay sorry, asking that is perhaps like asking, "Is it worth upgrading from FSX to P3D" or "Should I buy a new car?"
(It depends....)

Is it going to be a pain having no taxiway C?
Also do many people here use LVFR KSNA and OrbX Socal together and do they play nicely together?

Thanks very much again.

My OrbX SoCal does have Hotel and Charlie, but Hotel on the east side of the airport where it connects Alpha, Charlie, and RWY 2R/20L is incorrectly labeled Golf. The OrbX version also has none of the painting that helps identify the edges and paths of various runup areas, taxiways, non-movement areas, etc. The LatinVFR scenery is beautiful and accurate, but frame heavy and - at least on my system - has the "black building" problem where each time the scenery comes into view (most annoying during patterns) the 3d models of the airport buildings are drawn but have no texture for a few seconds until it loads in. Pick your poison.

Thanks for the reply David.
I noticed from watching Froogle's Fully Loaded PE Cessna video he was flying with FTX Global with no add-on KSNA above that
(and he didn't have Hotel)
I mention that video because he seemed to make it shortly before his V1 video.

Comparing his video to what I see at KSNA, there's nothing between 20L and the grass area between it and Alpha.
Isn't Charlie on the East side?
Maybe I could just start on the West side although that would make taxiing to 20L more interesting.

I'd read about frame rate drops with LVFR KSNA. My graphics card's not bad but maybe I shouldn't push my frame rates.

Thanks again :)

I've posted a link below to what my taxiways look like with OrbX SoCal installed. I should note that I'm on P3D v3.2 and not FSX, so if OrbX doesn't modify the airport that could be making a difference. Also included is the LatinVFR version for comparison.

Thanks again David, I'll go back and have another look and compare it to your screenshot. :)

I've not actually signed up to PE yet.
I'm trying to avoid needing to "go away and practice a bit offline".

I've been practicing with A2A's Cherokee.
I bought P3D v2 Professional but when v3 came out I went back to FSX(-SE).
Either P3D's too expensive or (perhaps more likely) I'm not their target audience.

Anyway, thanks very much.

Thanks for the screenshots David.
I just went and had another look, turns out the taxiway probably is there after all

Thanks again.
