Re: [newbie question] What frequency to use outside ATC serv
Is any tuneable frequency (118-137 MHz) supported by the PE client, or is it only the published ATC frequencies in the ZLA airspace? If I were next to another pilot and we both tuned a frequency we knew wasn't an ATC frequency, would we be able to hear / talk to each other?

Correct. Even if it's the 'wrong' frequency for a given airport. When I designed the radio system, it was important to me that it function pretty much like a real radio to the extent possible, while still allowing for one controller to work 400+ positions at a time. It was the most challenging thing I've faced to date as a software developer. If I were next to another pilot and we both tuned a frequency we knew wasn't an ATC frequency, would we be able to hear / talk to each other?
