How to file an RNAV (GPS) Approach

Post by N124AG »

Looking for advice on how to file an IFR flight plan that terminates in an RNAV (GPS) approach. Departure airport is KBFL and Destination is KSBP.

I plan to depart KBFL with the MEADO3.MEADO departure, with vectors to FLW. Then direct to WYNNR for the RNAV (GPS) 29 approach.

Is this how I should enter the route in the flight plan?

MEADO3.MEADO FLW WYNNR

Thanks!

You may file like that, but it’s definitely not necessary. You can just request the RNAV approach from Santa Barbara Approach. Then they’ll either vector you or give you direct somewhere to pick it up. Generally approach requests are not conveyed in flight plans.
