VFR flight plan route of flight

Post by punder »

Beside the field for route of flight, there is a "Paste" button.

What do you paste there?

I'm about to do the CAT 7, but I want to fly a little north to give myself some time to set up for the KONT transition clearance. I put a GPS-coordinates waypoint into Skyvector, so would I paste that in? It would look like

KSBD to 340852N1172221W to KEMT

I couldn't find any instructions about this, thought I'd ask.

Thanks,
Patrick

The paste button is just in case you copied a route from a website. I wouldn’t recommend putting in GPS coordinates.

The route field for VFR flight plans can be ignored as ATC doesn’t see VFR flight plans. The only benefit you would have by putting in a route is that PEAware would draw your field route (if you care). That’s assuming your navigating something other than direct to the destination. If you’re just flying VFR direct line to your destination, then the route field is very useless for VFR flight plans.
