PEaware and Adobe Flash

Post by flyingdrill »

Probably under control, but Adobe stops all support of Flash at the end of the year. Already (except for some workarounds), Flash is unusable on iPhones and iPads. As it displays a lot of useful info. on PEaware, I'm just a little surprised that the alternative isn't already up and running. We don't want to be left with using a version which will never be patched - and, let's face it, it was being patched very frequently indeed!

The folks that need to know are aware and are working on a solution.

The use of Flash is minimal on peware. It handles the traffic graphs and vertical profiles. PEAware itself is based on ColdFusion which is a legacy platform. We can either swap out the Flash elements for HTML5 graphing tools, or we can simply remove them for now until we have a new implementation of PEAware on a newer tech stack.

Understanding that the tech stack behind peware is very old will likely help provide some context as to why the change hasn't been made.

Not as old as me, Keith ;)

It is also good to see our personal pie charts.
