Aircraft Speed: ~90kias
Flight Rules: VFR, without flight following

Way op north, way op high, visiting known places.

We'll be doing another early morning VFR group flight this Saturday 11/14. This time we'll visit two airfields where we have been before. It won't be boring though! We will depart from a towered airfield again and land at an untowered field where we departed from on an earlier edition. The route is promising to be pretty spectacular though.

Start your sim of choice, load up at a vacant ramp location at Regal Air in Everett on the Paine Field (KPAE) and log into the Pilotedge network to join. They are located on the central ramp along taxiway D. The briefing starts at 8:00am PST on 122.75. After everyone is informed and ready the Pilotedge service should have been opened and we will advise when we switch to the ground frequency for departure.
We'll be leaving northbound towards Arlinton. From there we proceed inland eastbound for a touch-and-go in Darlington (1S2).

After departing there we follow the valleys while terrain gets higher and higher. The moment just before you're affraid of picking up icing or the absence of oxygen we start to descend again for a full stop landing in Twisp (2S0).

This is a pretty basic procedure flight with great views. It is suitable for beginners however because it includes a departure from a class D airport, I highly recommend you to achieve at least the CAT-ratings up to the CAT-4 if you'd like to join. Preferably fly an aircraft that is easily able to maintain a cruise speed of around 90 kts.

Looks fun! Just a heads up, you're crossing a low-level Military Training Route which happens to be active on PE. There's flights of F/A-18's and B-1's which cross over highway 520 from west to east between 600ft and 1200ft MSL. That would be shortly after you depart from 1S2 heading northbound through the valley. My advice would be to stay at 2000ft AGL or more and keep your head on a swivel while heading northbound along hwy 520 before the town of Rockport. :) Here's a video of what those planes are up to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzVCTfm8qw4. The video starts as we drop in on the lake which is 17nm NW on a 286 bearing from 1S2. You can see the lake on the sectional, it's just slightly south and west of the "IR348" MTR label.

Thanks Keith! I’ll certainly take that suggestion and advise everybody to have a sharp lookout!

Sure! It's on a 1 to 2 basis or at least that's what I'm aiming for. 2 WUS editions and then 1 ZLA edition. Next two will be WUS, currently creating one for this weekend.
