That's what they call 'VFR on top'
Actually the takeoff from LAX was the hardest. The downdrafts were killer. I had to climb out at 165 knots (not much above stall speed for a fully loaded Dassault Falcon) with the stall horn blaring for ten minutes. Total IFR until I broke clear of the clouds at about 15k. I always fly with real weather, actual time of day, birds and deer, and Vmax penalties enabled. Although I don't have instrument failures enabled, I still seem to get them occasionally, but only with my planes that use old style steam guages.
