How far north is the expansion going to be?

From Keith earlier in this thread:

"So, in the interest of completeness, here are some details on the expansion.

We'll be providing a new area of coverage which includes these airports on a full time basis: SEA, PDX, SLC, DEN, ASE, PHX. SFO will also be covered as part of this new area.

Additionally, we'll provide part time coverage for: OAK, SJC, RNO, MRY, SMF, GEG, YKM, EGE, ABQ. "Part time" means that we'll cover ONE of those fields at a time for a period of two weeks before closing it and moving to the next one in the list. Think of it as a temporary bonus field.

If you do not see an airport on this list, then it is not going to receive ATC service as part of this expansion."

This was the initial plan... don't know what if any changes have been made to that plan.

Hope that helps,
Herb

The plan hasn't changed at this point. Realistically due to the lag time in getting the data from the FAA it's really unlikely we would change the airports.

We've gotten some additional data back, but not all of it. They've missed the deadline so many times at this point, there's not much point in sharing their estimations of when it's going to be ready. There is some evidence, though, that they have actually been able to collect the data from the various facilities and are now sorting through the outstanding items. As soon as we have something remotely concrete regarding a launch date, we will absolutely post it....in several locations. It'll be hard to miss, I promise.

Perhaps we need to start the PilotEdge political action committee and start petitioning our local congressmen!! LOL!

Maybe the FAA is waiting on FAA reauthorization in which case we are in lots of trouble.

The FAA will be requiring each aircraft to have ADS-B In-and-Out to fly in the new coverage areas.

Nigel,

Not meaning to speak for Keith, but from what I understand, the FAA has been a little slow in getting him the necessary data to get things going. So, until the feds decide to meet a deadline, Keith is somewhat at their mercy.
