Check out this news regarding the development of a 727 for X-Plane 10.
I normally don't get excited about many of the heavier payware aircraft, simply because glass is not my thing. This puppy gets the juices flowing, though, and takes me back to my years as a kid when I'd visit the cockpit of a DC-9, TriStar or an early model 747. There were more round gauges than you could poke a stick at.
I'm really excited to give this a try and enjoy some high speed flying with VOR, DME, and not a whole lot more. Seeing a high-end, 3d pit for such a classic airliner is going to be a blast. No FMC, no autothrottle, no cost index.....sign me up

Well, not xplane, but I very much enjoyed flying the DreamFleet 2000 727-200 for FS9. Sadly DF is no longer in active business, so we'll never see one for FSX. I had an add-on Delco Carousel IV-A INS installed as well, you could put in up to 6 Lat/Long points to navigate to, otherwise yep, it is all navaids.
Also, independent FD and A/P, and glide modes. All great fun.

Only for X-Plane 10? I think that's kind of shooting themselves in the foot. Nonetheless, it sure looks cool!

Interesting point. I am guessing they have their reasons. I think the lighting for XP10 is quite different when it comes to 3d cockpits, perhaps that has something to do with it. I believe the electrical system has more bells and whistles in 10, too, that might have something to do with it.
Jack, it's your project, care to comment?

Re: [xplane] 727 in the works
Until I can afford to update my hardware (buy a new MacBook Pro) I have to fly on my Mac Mini and it just can't handle V10 at a decent level. 9.7 gives me good frame rates with above average rendering options and I love it. But when I try to fly V10, I get less than 19 fps at even the lowest settings. It just looks yucky and flies horribly. No V10 love for me. I'll cast my vote for a 9.7 version of the 727. Please?

The 727 wont be released anytime soon.
In the mean time, XP10 is getting better and better.
Already, the flight model for the jet engines is far superior in XP10 then in 9.70
A lot of developers today are forced to pick one of the other. most that are already done or almost done will pick XP9.70. I will developer for XP10, and if at the time of release we decide to make an XP9 version, we may have that option.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for a 9.7 version. As I have said before, I love your Q400. I've even flown it on PE. I like it even more without Gizmo. Thanks!

Thanks Steven.
Joe and I will be on Pilotedge testing the 727 Series from time to time. If you hear the name Mainland, that is us.
