What is the shape of the Chino airport Class D airspace? Is it
(1)
or
(2)
or something else?

Re: KCNO Delta Airspace
I would say 2) from surface to 2700' ( excluded) and the other is of course class C from surface to 5000'.
Now , I am in trouble....

It's moot, because either way, when it comes to rock, paper, scissors... Class C beats Class D anyway.

Re: KCNO Delta Airspace
From FAA Order 7400.9V which per FAR 71.61 is the official airspace definition order.
AWP CA D Chino, CA
Chino Airport, CA
(lat. 33°58'31"N., long. 117°38'13"W.)
Ontario International Airport, CA
(lat. 34°03'22"N., long. 117°36'04"W.)
That airspace extending upward from the surface to but not including 2,700 feet MSL within a
4-mile radius of the Chino Airport, excluding the Ontario International Airport, CA, Class C
airspace area. This Class D airspace area is effective during the specific dates and times
established in advance by a Notice to Airmen. The effective date and time will thereafter be
continuously published in the Airport/Facility Directory.
Or in other words, 2.

Re: KCNO Delta Airspace
OK, I thought so, but I wanted to be sure.
It's kind of a strange situation -- when flying VFR with flight following from John Wayne into Ontario you don't have to worry about the Ontario Class C, but (as I understand it) you DO have to worry about the Class D over Chino and not start your descent too soon. I wasn't 100% sure where "too soon" was.
Based upon Peter's message, if you're flying over the top of the Delta a couple of miles to the west of the airport you can start your descent for Ontario as soon as you cross V197 (the POM 112 radial), or at 3 DME from Ontario even in the worst case of flying directly over the top of the Chino airport.
Keith's message about the "C" trumping the "D" was also a "great to know" since that's easy to apply anywhere a charlie and a delta overlap. It totally makes sense to me, but I never heard it put that way before.
Thanks!
