HHR LOC Ry 25

Post by Ryan B »

Interesting, especially the altitudes. I've never seen altitudes like this on an approach plate. I've seen them on DP's and STARS though...

I'm guessing socal needs to protect for the KLAX 25L/R arrivals hence the need for strict adherence to the altitudes on this approach?

Link doesn't appear to work, but yes, the mandatory altitudes are there for the reason you suspect.

Burbank has something similar with the LOC Y RWY 8 and the LOC Z RWY 8, a mandatory 3K at BUDDE (doesn't apply to the ILS).

It's HHR by the sound of it and the name of the approach.

HHR and LAX are in fact treated simultaneous approaches, since the two are so darn close. According to some actual SOPs, the real ATIS should indicate this and the types of approaches at both airports.

A minor update to Alex's comments.

In the real world HHR and LAX lost the waiver that allowed that to happen about a year ago, this makes it impossible to go IFR to HHR. For PilotEdge purposes however we are assuming that waiver still exists.

PG, I read about that on the AOPA forums not long ago. Is that where you heard about it, too, or from another source?

Real life operating experience, I was denied IFR trying to go there for that reason.

Good info, though.
