Short Approach
I've been taught two different ways about this. If you are cleared to land and are #1, does it imply clearance to do a short approach? I was on a stage check once and requested the short approach, but the instructor asked why I was doing that if I was already #1 cleared to land.

Re: Short Approach
No, it doesn't imply a short approach. What if ATC was planning to get one departure out prior to your arrival?

Good point. I also noticed earlier, when I just went for it, the aircraft behind me couldn't see me. By the time you told him I was on base, I was in a 35 degree bank to the numbers.

He didn't spot on you that lap, but he spotted you on a previous lap.
