So for hat ever reason, 99% of airports in xplane don't have glide slope indicators. Is this normal? Anyone know how to resolve it, other than custom airports for every airport?

Re: I want some glide slope indicators.
Not every airport has a visual glideslope indicator (PAPI or VASI). Are you running across a bunch that don't have them but should have them?
Re: I want some glide slope indicators.
I'm not seeing them at places like John Wayne. (which I would think has them?)
I don' have any custom scenery for John Wayne, so I'm not sure what's going on.

Based upon what I've seen with my still-limited experience with X-Plane, there are NO visual glidepath aids at airports with stock scenery. I don't start to see them until I add custom scenery for the airport (and even then, they're often 1/10 the brightness of their real-world counterparts.

I have stock scenery and see them frequently. Will check when I get home.
Re: I want some glide slope indicators.
There should be hundreds of airports with that equipment because builders have contributed maps to the database that is in the current version of Xplane. I know I have seen GSIs, but I run a lotta custom maps.
Or you can download some custom maps.

Mark, are you comparing them to the brightness of FSX? I think FSX is off the charts in terms of VASI/PAPI brightness. I did a r/w night landing 2 days ago at an airport with a VASI and found them to be in line with that I see in X-Plane.

Re: I want some glide slope indicators.
The FSX VASI/PAPI brightness is way too high (compared to real world) -- no question about that. They're like little red and white lasers searing into your eyeballs.
I'll fly around and look again at XPlane using default scenery. I know, for example, that KVNY has a VASI in the real world (or at least, it *used* to have one...). I don't remember seeing any with the stock scenery, but maybe its just because I was looking for FSX-style lasers.

Re: I want some glide slope indicators.
I haven't seen any at all though. I seem to remember seeing them at some point. But lately, I haven't seen a single indicator at any airport.
I'm wondering if my scenery is messed up somehow. hmm

Re: I want some glide slope indicators.
Just chiming in with an "I see them, too" post. I fly mostly V9.7 so I can't really comment on V10, but I see the glide slope indicators where they are supposed to be in V9.7 at both airports with or without custom scenery installed.
