Visuals on slave computer

Post by arb65912 »

Hi Keith,

I know that the to do list is large but just checking in.

Did you have any luck to make the PE traffic show on slave computer ( Vince brought it up with you some time ago and you guys worked it out but the steps were way to complicated to repeat it every time ) when running 2 computer setup for PE?

Cheers, AJ

AJ,

We've been able to show traffic on slave computers from the very beginning. However, your specific configuration doesn't allow you to set the other computer as a true external visual, if memory serves. I'd need to make a custom build that allows you to force the plugin to think it's a slave, regardless of how the visual is configured.

I have done that for another manufacturer, but that build also disables a bunch of other features of the plugin. I'll have to make a build with the combination of the two.

It wasn't on the list, but I'll add it :) It shouldn't be too hard.

Hi Keith,

Thank you for adding it to the list. :) I know there are many things you need to do that are probably off much higher priority so when the time comes it will be great.

I do have to try something very simple, I will try to connect to PE from slave computer ( the one with the visuals) and use voice there while the master will still control the plane.
Filling flight plan on PE does not have to be done from within XP, I use Kenny's excellent MyFlightRoute to do that.

It might work, I will post here my results. Cheers, AJ ;)

AJ,
Then your PTT will be on the slave if I am understanding you correctly? What will you use for your PTT?
Do you think there is a way to network the PTT from the master(on your yoke) to the slave ENTER key?

Vince, s$#@ , never thought about it, would have to assign a PTT to a keyboard on slave computer, not cool at all.... hmmm. Thanks for pointing that out.
No idea how to network PTT from the master to slave....

AJ,

You'll be spending a lot of time trying to get it working without an understanding of what's going on behind the scenes. I don't recommend doing that.

I'll try to look at this for you soon and deliver a clean solution.

Ok, have sent you and Vince a 64-bit Windows build with the slave override feature.
