KLAS Class B changes

Post by twharrell »

Just read an article from the AOPA that effective August 22, the Las Vegas Class Bravo airspace is changing, and in a way that hurts general aviation. The airspace ceiling is being raised to 10,000 ft (up from 9000 ft), and the overall layout will include a mess of different layers with varying floor altitudes, making it more confusing for GA traffic. The FAA essentially ignored the AOPA's recommendation for adding new TEC routes, but instead is adding VFR waypoints outside the Clad B airspace to help VFR traffic navigate around the airspace.

Hopefully the FAA will do something about fuel prices since you will likely need to refuel after flying around the Class Bravo airspace. I haven't seen the new layout yet.
