LA/Socal scenery for X-Plane
Hi all,
I'm running X-Plane 10 on mac and I'm still searching for any reasonable scenery (photo or otherwise) for the LA/Socal area. I have scenery for a large amount of the airports in the area so I'm not stuck there.
I am aware of the scenery at the following link http://simheaven.com/?page_id=208&wpfb_file=21 however I have not been able to as much as get it into the right file format after downloading and the software they give you to compress the files appears to only work with windows. So is that scenery windows only or is there something I am missing in terms of the the installation.
So if any of you are aware of any alternate scenery for ZLA (for x-plane) that you could point me towards or could tell me how to get the one above to work it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

based on his post, he's looking for scenery that isn't airport specific.

I have this LA photo scenery on both Windows and Mac. In order to unzip it on a Mac you need a little program called The Unarchiver which is available on the Mac App store.

Re: LA/Socal scenery for X-Plane
I followed your advice Steve and it worked. So thanks very much. However the scenery appears to have cancelled out my other scenery packages that I had for the airports and now all th airports are simply runways with nothing else. The only airports that appear to be affected are those within the coverage area of the scenery.mikealphacharlie wrote:I have this LA photo scenery on both Windows and Mac. Did you experience this problem and would you know how to fix it?
Thanks again for your help,

Re: LA/Socal scenery for X-Plane
Glad to hear that you got it working. As you have probably already discovered, the sequence of loading custom scenery is controlled by the scenery_packs.ini file. You have to place airports before the photo stuff in this list. Helpfully, X-Plane puts any new custom scenery files it encounters first in the list, so if a new photoscenery pack is deployed then you have to run XP once to get the new pack into the ini file and then edit the file to obtain the desired sequence.
