First B-52 PE flight

Post by dc8flightdeck »

We have a real B-52 cockpit that was converted to a sim by Boeing and then sat outdoors for decades with most of the parts takes by collectors. We resored the sim, interfaced it to FS9, and added some bombing capabilities to it. Additional pics and video of it are on our website at http://simadventure.com/b-52-stratofortress.html

Last week we flew our first test PE flight. sadly the original video was corrupted half way through the flight but there is still some interesting footage.

Enjoy! Justin

Here's a link to some intense pattern work by the B-52 during the NYL-SNA fly-out this evening:

Talk about dedication!

How was it, Justin?

It was a blast! Flying the circuit really fine tunes a pilots skills with the aircraft!

Having a two person crew really helps to keep it all manageable. Steve got to practice his flight skills while also getting the chance to listen to the radio, then we switched jobs so he could start making some radio calls. Tonight was his first time to make a transmission in flight.

We felt bad about you making all the gear check calls because we discovered the B-52 is much more manageable in the circuit if we left the gear and flaps down. With gear and flaps up we couldnt keep it within 5 miles of the airport

Does fs9 let you connect all the throttles? For some reason xp10 only allows 4 throttle levers.
